Subscribing to updates

You can receive e-mails about incidents, outages and maintenance. Whether this is available depends on the operator. The button with the envelope icon (Subscribe) is always in the header. If subscriptions are not possible, the dialog shows "Email subscriptions are currently disabled.".

Subscribing by e-mail

  1. Click the envelope icon in the header of the status page. The Subscribe to updates dialog opens.
  2. Enter your Email address, optionally your name (Name (optional), at most 200 characters), and click Subscribe by email.
  3. The dialog reports "Almost done — check your inbox.". Check your inbox for a confirmation e-mail. It arrives from the sender set by the operator.
  4. Open the link in the e-mail. You reach the Confirm your subscription page. Click the Confirm subscription button.
  5. You will now receive updates.

If an entry is invalid, the dialog shows, for example, "Please enter a valid email address." or "Name must be at most 200 characters.".

Info

You must confirm your address. Until you do, you receive no e-mails. The confirmation always comes by e-mail. If you enter an address that is already confirmed, the dialog shows "You're already subscribed.", and no new e-mail is sent.

The confirmation link is valid for seven days. If it has expired or is invalid, subscribe again to receive a new one.

Warning

Too many requests: each e-mail address can make one request every 10 minutes, and each internet connection 10 requests per hour across all forms of this page (subscribe, unsubscribe, my data). The operator can change these values. If a limit is exceeded, the form still reports success, but no e-mail arrives. In that case, wait and try again later.

Unsubscribing

  1. Open the unsubscribe page at /subscribe/unsubscribe, or use the link in any update e-mail. The page is called Unsubscribe from status updates.
  2. Enter your e-mail address and click Unsubscribe. The page reports "If this address is subscribed, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to unsubscribe.". Only confirmed addresses receive a mail.
  3. Open the link in the confirmation e-mail and click Confirm unsubscribe.

Your address is removed only after the third step. The link is valid for seven days. If it has expired or is invalid, the page offers the form again so you can request a new link.

My data

You can view the data stored about you. The page is not linked anywhere; open it directly by its address.

  1. Open /subscribe/my-data. The page is called View your data.
  2. Enter your e-mail address and click Request my data. Only confirmed addresses receive a mail.
  3. Open the link in the confirmation e-mail and click Show my data.
  4. The page shows your data: Email, Name, Source, Verified at and Member since. Download as JSON saves it as the file my-data.json.

The link is valid for seven days. The times on this page are always shown in the operator's time zone. To delete your data, unsubscribe.

Browser push notifications

Push notifications appear as a message on your device, even when the page is closed.

  1. Click the bell in the header (Enable push notifications). On a phone, first open the bell menu Push notifications.
  2. Allow notifications when your browser asks. There is no e-mail confirmation here.
  3. To stop receiving them, click the button again (Disable push notifications). It now shows a crossed bell.

Push works only in browsers that support it, and only if the operator has enabled it. Notifications are tied to this browser and device. Error messages appear below the button. The button's own notices follow the page language; messages supplied by the browser or the server, for example when permission is denied, appear as delivered (often in English).

Other ways

The Subscribe to updates dialog lists two more options under Other ways to stay updated:

  • RSS feed (/feed.xml): incident updates in your feed reader
  • Status API (JSON) (/api/status): the current status for scripts, dashboards and badges

Text messages

SMS is not self-service. Only the operator can add phone numbers.
