Admin Handbook

This handbook is for the people who run the status page: administrators, service managers, service owners and SLA managers. It explains every area of the admin interface, step by step.

The admin interface lives under /admin. Sign in with your e-mail address and password. The interface is labeled in English only.

Dashboard

After signing in, you land on the dashboard (/admin). It shows:

  • four tiles: Service groups, Services, Active incidents and Open maintenance
  • the lists Active outages, Active incidents and Planned & active maintenance, each with a count

The header holds the link View Status Page to the public page, the theme toggle, your e-mail address with your role, and the logout button.

Areas at a glance

The navigation is grouped into five sections. Each role only sees the menu items it has access to:

Section Menu items Visible to Covered in
Operations Service Status all roles Service status & outages
Incidents, Maintenance all roles Incidents & maintenance
Services Services, Service Groups Admin, service manager Services & groups
SLA-Management SLA-Reports all roles SLA management
SLA, Schedules Admin, SLA manager SLA management
Information Events, Subscribers, Notifications Admin Notifications & subscribers
Settings Settings general, Locale all roles Settings, users, API tokens & audit log
Mail/SMS/Push/Webhook, API, Audit log Admin Settings, users, API tokens & audit log
Users Admin Roles & login

Pages without a menu item stay reachable through links for their roles, for example the outage history through the Service Status page.

Operations are covered in Operations, backup & restore.

Typical first steps

  1. Sign in with the bootstrap account if no database user exists yet, then create your own admin user under Settings → Users, and remove the bootstrap password from the environment.
  2. Set the company information under Settings → Settings general, and the time zone, the language of the public page and the display formats under Settings → Locale.
  3. Create groups under Services → Service Groups and services under Services. Assign a responsible user to each service.
  4. Create SLA schedules and holiday lists under SLA-Management → Schedules, then assign plans and targets under SLA.
  5. Configure notification channels under Settings → Mail/SMS/Push/Webhook and enable the event types under Information → Notifications.
  6. Set the subscription mode under Information → Notifications in the Enable Email Subscription card, and test a subscription.

Info

Your navigation may look shorter than described here. Menu items are shown only if your role has access to them. See Roles & login.
